Not everyone knows what a copywriter does, which is why, when looking for someone to write articles, a lot of people (just like you if you’ve found this organically), will Google something like, “Does a copywriter write blog posts?”
And this happens because there’s confusion over whether it’s a copywriter or content writer who does this – or is it both?
Well, let’s just quickly jump into explaining the difference.
What is Copywriting?
Copywriting is writing writing that aims to persuade the reader to take some kind of action. That could be downloading a free guide, signing up for a newsletter, booking a call, buying a product or service or sending an email.

What is Content Writing?
Content writing is writing that’s informative, engaging and useful that focuses on providing information and building relationships with the reader.
The main content writing services include:
- Blog Posts
- Print and Digital Articles
- Social media posts
- E-books
But the truth is, most copywriters cover both copywriting and content writing.
Only a handful of writers call themselves content writers and that’s all they do.

But let’s not confuse you any further, let’s answer your question.
Does a copywriter write blog posts?
The answer is: Yes!
A copywriter writes blogs, even though it’s content writing, 99.9% of copywriters offer this as a service.
Why do I need a blog post writer?
Getting someone on board to write your stuff is going to save you the usual, time.
But that’s not the real reason you should work with a blog copywriter.
The main reason to use one is that they have a great understanding of SEO, so they can create multiple posts that all tie and link together, which Google loves when it’s checking your website SEO.
Copywriters can also help you repurpose your articles into social media posts.
Oh, and if you have old blogs nobody is reading anymore, they can also edit and update those, improve the SEO and get traffic flowing to your site again.

So, now you know the answer to: “Does a copywriter write blog posts?”, your next step is to give them everything they need to do the job.
But how?
Well, if you hire a copywriter to write your blog posts, then they’ll usually have a brief ready for you to fill out.
Yes, they can come up with article ideas, but if you already have stuff you want to talk about, either fill in the detailed brief they send you or send them your own.
Give them as much information as possible, so they can write something pretty top-notch for you.
