7 great ways to manifest your ideal client

If you found this by Googling ‘How to manifest your ideal client‘, chances are you’ll be open-minded about some of the things I’m about to say. But if you’re here because you clicked on a social media link because whatever I was saying about this article sounded bonkers, that’s fine, too.

Manifesting might sound like a load of new-age nonsense, but it’s not.

It’s a pretty cool way to give you the best chance of landing something you’ve always dreamed of – your ideal client.

What is manifesting?

Simply put, manifesting (also known as the law of attraction) is writing down something you want to happen and then watching your dream come true.

Ah, if only it were that easy.

It’s not as simple as just writing it down and leaving it, which is what a lot of people think manifestation is.

In 2023, I landed my ultimate dream client, Beano, and by doing what I’m about to show you, you can manifest dream clients, too.

7 steps to help you manifest your ideal client.

If you’ve read this far, then you’re definitely open to trying something different. So, let’s stop faffing and get straight to what you need to do:

One. Create a vision board

You can buy vision boards online, you can get loads on Amazon.

But a whiteboard or noticeboard works just as well. All you need to do is write whatever it is you want to manifest on it, so:

  • Work with [Your ideal client]

And then surround it with images (either from a vision board pack or magazines, etc., as long as they relate to your client or work) and written positive affirmations that evoke positive feelings when you think about working with them.

Stuff like:

  • I take my interests and make them my work
  • Don’t forget to have fun
  • Great things never come from comfort zones

Yes, they sound cheesy, but this is really about mindset, not magic.

The moment you write it down, the way you think changes to help you make decisions that’ll give you the best chance of working with them.

Two. Put reminders around your home

It’s easy to want to do something then not do anything after you’ve written it down.

Put little post-its or reminders up around your home to keep the thought of working with your dream client at the forefront of your mind.

Stick them on the bathroom mirror. On a packet of hobnobs or in your pants drawer.

Three. Meditate

Yes, you heard me.

Meditating has nothing to do with religion or anything like that, it’s about opening your mind to new experiences (and don’t worry if your mind wanders, it takes years of practice to stop that).

There are loads of meditations available on the free app Insight Timer that work solely on manifesting your ideal client through meditation. It’s a great way to relax after work, but once again, it keeps it in your mind that you want to manifest your ideal client.

You’ll be asked to picture them talking to you and how they feel and react when you return the work they’ve asked you to do. Nothing too out there or quirky.

It really boosts your enthusiasm to want to work for them.

Four. Write about them

Whether it’s in a blog post on your site or on social media, post about your dream client.

Talk about:

  • What you love about them
  • How great they are at marketing themselves
  • How what you do aligns with what they do and say

You might think this is weird, but it isn’t.

You’re showing everyone how much you admire the brand, and you’re showering them with praise, they’re getting free advertising and links from you – they’ll love it.

If you want to manifest your ideal client, you’ve got to put in the work.

Five. Tag them on social media

Yes, you could cut the faff and just cold email them, but they likely get loads of them and more often than not, you don’t hear a thing.

Tag them on socials, and they:

  • Get notified of the post
  • Can see what you’re talking about
  • Get free advertising
  • See that you’re ‘one of them’

Your favourite brands love people who totally buy into what they do, say and sell. They know you get the brand by showing them that you live their ideals.

If you offer a service or product they can use, why would they not want someone who doesn’t need to be brought up to speed on who they are?

Six. Follow the decision-makers

LinkedIn is a great place for this.

Look for their:

  • CEOs
  • Directors
  • Head of Marketing

Anyone who makes a decision is worth popping a ‘Connection‘ request. If you have a mutual connection, ask them to introduce you.

Getting an introduction like this makes them more likely to accept and follow you – and you’ll have one toe in the door.

Seven. Keep trying, and don’t lose heart

Manifesting is about keeping your energy high and believing it will happen.

If you’ve done the first six steps to try and manifest your ideal client, don’t feel negative and that it’s a total waste of time. Keep commenting and chatting about them on social media, your website or at networking and coworking meetings.

You never know who has a contact that can turn that foot in the door to a seat at the table.

Want proof that manifesting works?

If you don’t think you can manifest your ideal client, think again cos if I can do it, so can you.

My dream client is Beano, and in 2023, I used the law of attraction to land work with them on a 3-part LinkedIn article series called Being A Kid Never Gets Old.

And to show you I’m not making it up, you can read about how I went about it in my article, How I manifested my dream client, Beano, or you can check out the whole project on my Beano portfolio page.

Oh, and if you want more Beano goodness, read about the day I went to Dundee in my article, My Day in Beanotown – with awesome piccies.

See, manifesting isn’t magical.

It’s about changing your mindset.

When you choose to write down what you want to achieve, your brain will switch to making the choices and decisions you need to make it happen.

But, if manifestation is just a bit too out there, but you’d love a hand with writing stuff to market yourself, whether it’s a new homepage, some articles or a chunk of social media posts, get in touch and let’s chat about how a chatty tone of voice can help you attract your dream clients.

Until next time,
